As the base game evolved through the centuries beginning with its initial appearance in 16th Century Italy, winning patterns of different shapes have been introduced to spice up the game and make it more interesting. Also, said patterns were created in line with the taste and preferences of the players through the years.

By adding creative variations to the game, this gave players more chances to win, thus attracting more people to play and enjoy the game. The simple and the seasonal

Just like the Bingo Heart for Valentine's, seasonal patterns for Christmas and other holidays have been known to be used. The Christmas tree, candy cane, gift sock, and other unusual patterns add fun and challenge to the game.

A pattern though worth noting is the top-middle-bottom winning pattern where you simply need to have three horizontal lines on those locations on the card.

There are a lot more patterns that have been used (the simplest to the most complex) but these are just the most common or simpler ones known to bingo communities worldwide. For most everyday bingo games, however, the traditional patterns are usually good enough.
